Sleep is so essential for our wellbeing and sometimes so elusive, this can be due to physical mental or emotional factors or a combination. Yoga Nidra offers you tools, allowing the body to come to a deep state of relaxation, using the natural workings of your own mind.
Yoga nidra is a state between waking, dreaming and sleeping, it is a state where you can gain complete rest while remaining fully conscious. The difference between yoga nidra and sleep is consciousness. In sleep, you are unconscious but thoughts, problems and anxieties continue to plague the mind. If sleep is a problem for you, after practicing yoga nidra you will feel more rested and energised, 1 hour of yoga nidra is far superior to 3-4 hours of unconscious sleep.
The deep relaxation can help those suffering from insomnia, high blood pressure, poor circulation, tension and stress as well as chronic physical pain.
- The practice is completely safe
- Reduce the effects of stress, anxiety and tension in the body
- Completely relax the body and give the mind a break from endless thoughts
- Learn about the inner workings of your mind
- Soothe pain and insecurities
The classes will begin with a little gentle movement to prepare the body for deep relaxation. Following this you will lie comfortably supported on the floor and bring the awareness to the flow of the breath. Learning how to breathe deeply, smoothly and slowly. This is called diaphragmatic breathing and begins to calm the mind and soothe the nervous system.
While you rest comfortably in savasana, the systematic meditation will take you on a journey through the five layers of self. You don’t need to do anything as you will follow the guidance of the voice cues.
Yoga nidra is a completely safe practice that requires no skill and anyone can practice.
